Talk to your fellow business owners about their plans, get some last minute ideas, find a partner or two for some fusion marketing this year. A great turnout for our second discussion on how to use events to maximize traffic to local merchants! Lots of energy and lots of suggestions that we can act on.
Some of the ideas include:
- Art walk
- Car show
- Merchant trunk shows
- Antique fair
- Sidewalk sales
As the Vineman will bring possibly 10,000 people to Windsor on the weekend of July 18, that was viewed as a “hot” opportunity. David Culley (KC’s Downtown Grill) and Stephanie Marti ( Windsor Wine Shop) quickly volunteered to help get the ball rolling on a Sidewalk Sale that will take advantage of this event. They are organizing flyers, an ad investigating the possibility of a shuttle from the high school to downtown and campaign to reach all merchants to make them aware of the sale.
The sidewalk sale is a great way to have a merchant-focus event that does not need permits, security, etc. that are needed for Town Green events.
Diane Johnson form the Town has volunteered to bring many of the suggestions present to the marketing coalition. If you have feedback, please contact Diane.

Our session on June 26 had a small turnout . . . but an enthusiastic one. A number of issues were raised about events on the Town Green. Most were issues that could not be resolved with the folks in attendance. One major issue was how to get more attention for the businesses that are just off the Green. With so much focus on the Green itself, these businesses feel that they are being left out. Offering events in the parking lot by the Chamber offices would be a good place to start. We are hoping to continue this conversation and to have other people in attendance who can help take these ideas and start making changes!
